U Power and Partners Set Benchmark for EV Innovation with Battery-Swapping Taxis in Phuket

PHUKET, May 11, 2025 – In a move set to reshape sustainable transportation in Southeast Asia, U Power Limited (Nasdaq: UCAR), through its Thai arm USWAP, has introduced Thailand’s first battery-swapping electric taxi fleet, delivering 21 vehicles to Auto Drive EV in partnership with Sumitomo Mitsui Auto Leasing & Service (Thailand).

This initiative aligns with Thailand’s strategic push for clean mobility and is expected to reduce carbon emissions in high-traffic tourism hubs like Phuket. The use of U Power’s UOTTA battery-swapping technology ensures high vehicle utilization and low operational overhead—making it a cost-effective and scalable model for mass fleet adoption.

Dr. Akaranun Ariyasripong, Chairman of Auto Drive EV, confirmed plans to scale the fleet to 2,000 electric taxis by the end of 2025, with full integration of support infrastructure, financial models, and tech servicing.

As Thailand’s EV sector rapidly evolves, this project not only meets transportation needs but also positions the country as a regional leader in EV infrastructure innovation.
