Malaysia’s Palm Oil Exports Rise 9.62%, CPO Production Jumps Over 21% in April – MPOB

KUALA LUMPUR, May 14 (Bernama) – Malaysia’s palm oil exports rose by 9.62% in April 2025 to 1.10 million tonnes, up from 1.01 million tonnes in March, according to the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB).

In its monthly industry performance report, MPOB revealed that crude palm oil (CPO) production surged by 21.52%, or 298,531 tonnes, reaching 1.69 million tonnes in April compared to 1.39 million tonnes the previous month.

Palm kernel production also saw a notable increase of 21.42%, totalling 409,097 tonnes versus 336,921 tonnes in March.

Meanwhile, the production of crude palm kernel oil rose by 17.82% to 176,644 tonnes from 149,923 tonnes, while palm kernel expeller output climbed 11.70% to 192,857 tonnes from 172,651 tonnes.

CPO stockpiles expanded significantly by 34.83%, reaching 1.05 million tonnes in April, up from 779,391 tonnes in March. Processed palm oil inventories increased 3.99% to 814,673 tonnes from 783,426 tonnes previously. As a result, total palm oil stocks rose by 19.37% to 1.87 million tonnes from 1.56 million tonnes.

On the export front, palm kernel oil exports jumped 77.02% to 99,691 tonnes in April, compared to 56,315 tonnes in February.

Palm kernel expeller exports climbed 14.52% to 140,833 tonnes from 122,977 tonnes, while oleochemical exports rose by 5.90% to 221,806 tonnes from 209,449 tonnes in March. Biodiesel exports recorded a sharp 57.81% increase, reaching 23,589 tonnes compared to 14,947 tonnes the previous month.

No imports of CPO were recorded in April. However, imports of palm kernel oil grew by 12.69% to 14,287 tonnes, up from 12,678 tonnes in March.

These figures underscore strong demand for Malaysian palm oil products and a robust rebound in production amid improving global market conditions.
