SEREMBAN, March 16, 2025 – Malaysia, as the 2025 ASEAN Chair, will host the 46th ASEAN Summit on May 26-27, followed by the ASEAN Summit with Dialogue Partners in late October, Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan announced.
The May 26 session will convene ASEAN leaders, while the May 27 meeting will include representatives from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
“We anticipate that following the royal banquet on May 27, Kuala Lumpur will also host the ASEAN-GCC-China Summit,” Mohamad stated at a community assistance event in Taman Kelab Tuanku, Mambau.
For the October ASEAN Summit, ASEAN will engage with 10 dialogue partners, including China, South Korea, Japan, Australia, and the United States, through ASEAN Plus Three, ASEAN Plus One, the Asian Summit, and the ASEAN Regional Forum.
As ASEAN Chair, Malaysia is committed to advancing regional unity and prosperity under the theme “Inclusivity and Sustainability”.
Mohamad also expressed gratitude for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s recognition of Wisma Putra for strengthening Malaysia’s global image and influence, highlighting its role in upholding peace and neutrality in ASEAN and advocating principled positions on global humanitarian issues such as Gaza, Sudan, and Myanmar.
