March 11, 2025, China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region is ramping up its artificial intelligence (AI) cooperation with ASEAN, positioning itself as a regional AI hub to enhance economic and technological integration.

Key Developments:
✅ China-Laos AI Innovation Cooperation Center launched in February—the first China-ASEAN AI partnership platform.
✅ Cross-border logistics data-sharing agreement signed with Vietnam to streamline trade and AI applications.
✅ China-ASEAN Information Harbor now connects Guangxi and ASEAN via 12 terrestrial optical cables, boosting data transmission capacity.
✅ Guangxi’s AI Industrial Fund (worth 10 billion yuan / $1.38 billion) established to accelerate AI development.

AI to Dominate China-ASEAN Expo 2025
Guangxi will host the 22nd China-ASEAN Expo in September, with a focus on AI cooperation. The event is expected to attract leading AI enterprises and drive policy alignment between China and ASEAN nations.

Four Priorities for AI Collaboration
1️⃣ Attract leading AI enterprises to set up R&D centers in Nanning.
2️⃣ Develop AI solutions for key industries like agriculture, healthcare, and logistics.
3️⃣ Build an AI supply chain, integrating Chinese R&D with ASEAN applications.
