ASEAN Leadership & COP30 Strategy
As ASEAN Chair in 2025, Malaysia is preparing to present a regional climate action statement at COP30 in Belém, Brazil. The country is also working to establish the Southeast Asia Alliance (Group SEA), a climate negotiation bloc aimed at increasing ASEAN’s influence on the global stage.
What’s Next?
Malaysia’s vision is clear: a net-zero future by 2050. With initiatives like MyNAP (National Adaptation Plan) addressing climate risks and a growing carbon trading market, the country is solidifying its role as a global climate leader.
However, Malaysia’s leaders stress the need for greater action from developed nations, emphasizing that equitable climate finance and technological support are essential for global success.
Malaysia will continue to push for bold, collaborative climate solutions—because, as the nation asserts, climate action cannot wait.
