ASEAN Summit: All Agencies in High State of Preparedness – FM Mohamad

KUALA LUMPUR, 8 May 2025 – All government agencies involved in organizing and securing the 2025 ASEAN Summit are in a high state of preparedness, ensuring smooth operations and safety throughout the high-profile regional event, said Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan.

In a statement issued today, the minister commended the strong coordination among security forces, logistics teams, protocol officers, and other critical units, affirming Malaysia’s capability in hosting major international gatherings.

“The level of readiness shown by all parties involved is very commendable. It reflects Malaysia’s professionalism and commitment in ensuring the ASEAN Summit runs efficiently and safely,” Mohamad said after visiting key operational sites.

The summit, held in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, welcomes leaders and delegates from the 10 ASEAN member states and dialogue partners. As such, stringent security and logistical arrangements are in place, including road closures, venue lockdowns, and emergency response teams.

Mohamad added that Malaysia is proud to host the summit and sees it as an opportunity to showcase the nation’s diplomatic leadership and hospitality. He also acknowledged the public’s cooperation and understanding, particularly in navigating traffic changes and security zones throughout the summit period.

“This is not just a diplomatic event; it is a demonstration of regional unity and Malaysia’s role in driving ASEAN’s future,” he added.

The ASEAN Summit 2025 is expected to address key issues including regional economic integration, digital transformation, climate action, and geopolitical stability, with several bilateral and multilateral meetings scheduled alongside the main summit.
