The 21st meeting, co-chaired by Malaysia and the Philippines, was previously held in Manila on February 3. Officials at that session worked on refining the draft declaration for the ASEAN Community Vision, along with strategic plans for the bloc’s three community pillars and ASEAN Connectivity.
According to the ASEAN Secretariat, Dr. Kao’s visit to Malaysia will also include a meeting with Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan in Kuala Lumpur on March 20. The discussions aim to strengthen diplomatic ties and reaffirm Malaysia’s crucial role in shaping the region’s future.
Dr. Kao, a key figure in ASEAN’s strategic planning, previously highlighted Malaysia’s central role as the 2025 ASEAN Chair in reviewing and adopting the ASEAN Community Vision 2045. The framework focuses on four strategic plans designed to enhance regional integration, economic connectivity, and sustainability.
On January 1, 2025, Malaysia officially assumed the ASEAN Chairmanship under the theme “Inclusivity and Sustainability”, reflecting the country’s commitment to fostering a united, resilient, and prosperous ASEAN community.
